About Sandy Ducharme

Sandy Ducharme

Sandy Ducharme combines her exceptional talents in visual and fiber arts to offer her own award winning patterns, hand dyed wool, rug hooking materials, classes and workshops in the Village of Cabot, VT.

About Sandy: I have been a fiber artist for decades I began working with fiber arts as a child, and have enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and quilting as a young woman. I combined my love of painting (acrylics and watercolor) with fiber arts to create Vermont Floor Cloths. Approximately 20 years ago I was introduced to the art of rug hooking. Needless to say, “I was hooked.” I am proud to combine my years of operating artisan’s galleries with my rug hooking passion, to offer you Vermont Rug Hooking Studio.

After completing my very first rug hooking project, I felt the need to be more creative. For my next hooking project, I designed the pattern and learned how to dye all the wool necessary.  That rug was featured in “Celebrations of Hand-Hooked Rugs” in 2005.  Since then, I have had five rugs featured in “Celebrations”.  I have received several awards throughout Vermont for my hooked rugs including “People’s Choice” Awards at past Hooked in the Mountains shows.

In 2010 I began teaching fine-shading rug hooking, and now teach throughout New England. Vermont Rug Hooking Studio will now be home to all my local classes and workshops.

Nature is my inspiration.  I enjoy sharing my passion for nature, colors, textures, and new discoveries with my students.  I have learned to “paint” with rug hooking and pass freedom of expression on to anyone wanting to learn. I feel very blessed to live in rural Vermont where I take daily walks and enjoy all the changing seasons and amazing landscapes.
